North Downs Specialist Referrals, one of the UK’s biggest veterinary hospitals. is the first small animal practice to invest in the GE Vivid E9 from BCF Technology.
The Vivid E9 is described as the leading 4D cardiovascular ultrasound system for referral hospitals. It is specifically designed for cardiac 4D imaging, but produces the highest quality of 2D images, so it can produce “outstanding spectral, colour and tissue Doppler quality imaging”.
North Downs invested in the Vivid E9 because it wanted to gain the very best image quality for its busy cardiology caseload.
Additionally to phased array cardiac probes, the practice has also bought a transesophageal (TOE) probe to enable the scanning of patients while undergoing interventional cardiac surgery.
Simon Dennis, European and RCVS-recognised veterinary specialist at Surrey-based North Downs, said: “The Vivid E9 is the flagship cardiovascular ultrasound machine. Out of all the machines that we tried when looking for a new machine, this had by far the most superior image guilty in terms of 2D and Doppler imaging.”
