The RCVS is having to place exam candidates at alternative centres after being “overwhelmed” by a surge of applications for the June 2009 veterinarynursing practical examinations.
According to the Royal College, applications are up 40 per cent on last year, but while this is excellent news, it has also placed pressure on its examination centres.
An RCVS spokesman said: “To accommodate all applicants, we have made arrangements for two additional centres to be available this summer: Harper Adams University College (Shropshire) and Writtle College (Essex). Candidates will be informed of their exam centre and appointment by today (June 1).
“Unfortunately, we have had to place some candidates at an alternative centre to that which they chose, in order to accommodate everyone. We hope this will not cause undue inconvenience and ask that candidates please do not contact us to request a change of exam centre, as it is very unlikely that this will be possible.”
