Around 2,400 veterinary surgeons who have not paid their retention fees are to be sent final reminder letters by the RCVS. Non-paying vets will be removed from the Register and will no longer be able to practise legally in the UK.
According to the RCVS, retention fees were due on March 31 and the last date for receipt of payment at the RCVS is May 29. The names of non-paying veterinary surgeons will be published in a list on RCVSonline (www.rcvs.org.uk).
Practice Standards Scheme-accredited practices who have not paid annual fees will also be sent reminder letters as these are overdue. Non-paying practices can be removed from the Scheme and would need to apply for re-accreditation. Removal from the Practice Standards Scheme for non-payment will affect any registration in the Register of Veterinary Practice Premises.
