The first online CPD series covering veterinary forensic science and animal crime scene investigation has been launched in the UK.
The six-module online course covers all aspects of veterinary forensic science and medicine.
The first two modules are already available with the remaining four to follow later this year.
Core lectures on the first two modules include: suspected abuse: recognition and response; examination of the victim; neglect, and forensic entomology.
Additional lectures include equine cruelty; cruelty in reptiles and amphibians and enrichment protocols for rodents and waterfowl. Each module is worth 12 hours of CPD.
A Vetstream spokesman said “Stronger laws governing animal welfare and an increase in animal-related investigations are leading to demand for a higher level of veterinary expertise in these difficult and often upsetting areas.
“This series provides an in-depth view of all of the issues from some of the world’s leading experts. It will prove particularly helpful for those who may be interested in entering the field or serving as an expert witness in legal cases.”
In addition to Vetacademy, Vetstream offers clinical reference services, Canis, Felis, Lapis and Equis, which, between them, provide the world’s largest online source of peer reviewed point-of-care veterinary content.
Its webpartner service specialises in the development of professional and accessible websites for veterinary practices and related businesses and organisations. For further information visit www.vetacademy.org
