Staff at The Grove Veterinary Group in Fakenham are celebrating after being awarded “Hospital” status by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
This prestigious accreditation is awarded to veterinary practices that, in the opinion of the RCVS, provide a higher level of service to its patients and owners, which includes:
- offering 24 hour on-site availability of a veterinary team
- the use of the latest technology and equipment
- the employment of highly-trained staff
Grove Veterinary Group – situated on Holt Road, Fakenham – is the only veterinary practice in North Norfolk and the Brecks to have achieved this recognition, and has recently completed a £1million refurbishment to create a state-of-the art hospital environment for its patients, their owners and staff.
In addition to carrying out all the usual routine care owners expect for their pets, its specialist staff and new technology they can call on means that Grove is also a regional centre of excellence for orthopaedics, spinal surgery and ophthamology.
Alan Hughes, vet and clinical director, said: “This is a big moment for us and we are so proud to have been awarded this accreditation. It is the culmination of 18 months’ work by the whole team during the refurbishment. At the final stage, we were subjected to a detailed five-hour inspection by a senior member of the RCVS to ensure that our standard of work and facilities fully met the standard. It was a nerve-wracking day!
“The award of hospital status is the icing on the cake. It gives us the satisfaction of knowing that we are doing the very best for our patients, offering the best diagnostic and treatment facilities and on-going care.
“It gives our clients confidence that, whether we are carrying out routine work here at Fakenham or at our surgeries in Dereham and Swaffham, or handling more complex cases, they have access to the highest level of veterinary care available in practice in the country.”
