Nominations are now open for next year’s Petplan Veterinary Awards, giving practices and the public the chance to recognise the passion and dedication of the UK veterinary profession.

Petplan Veterinary Awards 2013: Nominations open! The awards are hosted in association with Veterinary Times and VN Times and celebrate outstanding veterinary professionals and teams who go above and beyond the call of duty.

The categories are:

  • Vet of the Year
  • VN of the Year
  • Practice of the Year
  • Support Staff of the Year
  • Practice Manager of the Year

Vet of the Year 2012 was Zaila Dunbar from Queens Park Veterinary Clinic in London, who said: “Winning Petplan Vet of the Year has certainly created a lot of positive feeling among our established clients as well as new ones.

“We have attracted new customers as a direct result and almost every day since the win someone has referred to it either because they had heard through word of mouth or because they’ve seen the certificate in the waiting room.”

She added: “Winning the award has also opened new doors for me as the BVA has asked me to give a talk at its careers fair at the London Vet Show, which is a new challenge and definitely not something I would have had the opportunity to do otherwise.”

Petplan’s head of sales and partnership Simon Masding said: “We hear from our customers every day about the exceptional service veterinary staff have given to pets in their care and we are thrilled to be able to thank such hard-working individuals on a national scale.”
