Protexin Veterinary has announced the launch of CystoPro, a brand new product to aid in the management of urinary tract infections in dogs.
The key feature in CystoPro’s effectiveness is the inclusion of Proanthocyanidins (Type A PACs). Derived from cranberries, this active ingredient works by reducing the ability of E.coli bacteria to infect a dog’s urinary tract.
CystoPro combines four innovative ingredients with an artificial chicken flavour for optimum effectiveness. Presented in a capsule formulation CystoPro contains:
- Proanthocyanidins (Type A PACs)
Proanthocyanidins are naturally occurring powerful antioxidants extracted from the North American cranberry. Type A PACs inhibit the ability of E.coli to attach to the urothelium, reducing bacterial adherence, colonisation and infection.
The EU-registered strain Enterococcus faecium (NCIMB 10415) E1707 reduces pathogenic bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract thereby lessening the risk of ascending UTIs of faecal origin.
Created from purified yeast cell walls, Mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS), binds E.coli and upregulates the innate immune system by attracting phagocytes to opsonise the bacteria. MOS is commonly used as a prebiotic to support intestinal microflora.
- N-acetyl D-glucosamine
N-acetyl D-glucosamine reinforces the structure of the Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer that lines and protects the sensitive bladder urothelium. A strong, resilient GAG layer prevents bacteria from adhering to the urothelial cells.
CystoPro is available in boxes of 30 and 120 capsules and is available to purchase from all veterinary practices.
