Veterinary surgeries are being urged to sign up to this year’s National Pet Month and help promote responsible pet owner messages to members of the public.

NPM logoNational Pet Month, which takes place from April 7 to May 7, will this year be encouraging people to team up with their pets to get happy and healthy under the theme “Your pets and you: a winning team”.

During the month, thousands of people are expected to celebrate happy times with their pets across the country. While many of the events will raise funds for animal charities, National Pet Month is also about raising awareness of how pets make people’s lives happier and healthier, and ensuring they are looked after responsibly in return.

Details of how to join in and become a supporter are on this website.

Practices are expected to set up their own events, or encourage clients to enter one of the National Pet Month competitions. The public can check out the website to see what’s happening in their area.

Phil Sketchley, chairman of National Pet Month, said: “Keep in touch with what’s on in your area by looking on our website. We are also planning some great competitions too.

“National Pet Month is an opportunity for us all to learn more about responsible pet care so we can enjoy our pets and make a winning team for many years to come,” he said.
