Animals Asia Foundation and The Birmingham Stage Company are to present a special performance of Roald Dahl’s classic “George’s Marvellous Medicine” and an after-show auction to help raise funds for the rescue and rehabilitation of moon bears.
Roald Dahl’s amazing story tells of George Henry Kranky, a young boy (played by Clark Devlin) who creates a marvellous new medicine to cure his grandmother (Erika Poole) of her terrifying temper. But when she drinks his special new potion, the most incredible things start to happen and George’s adventure has just begun…
The production, specially adapted for the stage by David Wood OBE, is a Christmas treat for everyone aged 4 to 104, and the after show auction will be conducted by Paul Martin, star or BBC Two’s afternoon antiques show, Flog It!
This special Christmas gala performance of George’s Marvellous Medicine will take place on December 20, from 7 – 9.30pm at UCL Bloomsbury Theatre in London.
All profits from this special performance and after-show auction will be helping to rescue, rehabilitate and care for more suffering moon bears – giving them a new life at Animals Asia‘s leafy sanctuaries in China and Vietnam.
|“Devlin delivers Dahl’s pungent, rhyme-laden language with infectious delight and there is a refreshingly non-PC, off-the-wall, subversive aspect to his revenge on Poole’s witchy granny. Nasty, naughty fun.” The Times|
