A vet from Meadows Veterinary Centre in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire is running the London Marathon to raise money for Guide Dogs charity.
Andreas Mertin is no stranger to long distance running, having already pounded the pavement in eight marathons, including the 2012 London event, since participating in his first in 2002.
Mr Mertin graduated from The Freie Universität Berlin in 2006 and has been working in mixed practices throughout the UK after relocating in 2008.
“I have come across quite a few guide dogs in training as patients or as working dogs for the visually impaired,” he said.
“For blind and partially sighted people, these dogs are their eyes to the world and are irreplaceable.
“The work this charity does in breeding, training, supporting and educating is priceless and I’m glad to help by running 26 splendid miles.”
The London Marathon takes place on Sunday, April 13.
