Seven new graduands to the RCVSNottingham is the first new veterinary school in the UK for more than 50 years, and the process to recognise its degree for RCVS membership is in its final stages. RCVS Council has recommended approval to the privy council, which makes the final decision.

Veterinary graduates must become RCVS members to practise in the UK. Generally, this happens on graduation day.

However, if they wish to start work before graduation they can apply to register as graduands, as in this case.

The Nottingham graduation ceremony will take place on July 22, when a further 77 students will graduate, and those wishing to practise in the UK will become college members.

Pictured are the seven new members with Karen Braithwaite, director of academic support and administration, and Gary England, the foundation dean.
