Alsager Animals in Need, a small rescue service covering Alsager (Stoke-on-Trent) and the immediate surrounding district, has won a £500 donation from the UK’s largest pet insurance provider, Petplan.
The small local caring rescue service centre has been running since 1987 and provides shelter and veterinary care for sick, injured, stray and abandoned cats and dogs in the surrounding area.
Joanne Cooper, centre manager of Alsager Animals in Need said: “We’re so surprised to have won this money. We would like to thank Petplan for this donation. The money will be used to fund the rescue work we do.”
The donation will go towards helping cover some of the main costs to run the centre which are kennelling, veterinary bills, food, advertising, erecting and maintaining the cat shelters and dog pens.
Petplan marketing manager Alison Andrew said: “We are pleased to be able to provide this donation to the Alsager Animals In Need centre, they do a fantastic job caring for animals in the community.”
Petplan works with re-homing charities to help fund the care of thousands of homeless cats and dogs. They offer 4 weeks free insurance to every owner adopting pets through the shelters it supports and also offers free insurance vouchers to visitors and supporters of the charities.
Each month a prize draw is held from all the insurance vouchers issued and one charity benefits from the prize fund.
