Details of the line up for the autumn meeting of the Animal WelfareScience, Ethics and Law Veterinary Association (AWSELVA) have beenannounced.
With the theme “The impact of policy change on animal welfare”, the meeting takes place on November 10 at Mary Sumner House, 24 Tufton Street, London.
The day will feature much discussion stimulated by talks from:
Rob Garner, from the University of Leicester, who will speak on “Philosophical and ethical weaknesses of the concept ‘animal welfare'”; Bill Reilly (BVA) on “How we influence policy development and its effect on animal welfare”; David Pritchard (DEFRA) on “How does policy formulation work?”; Peter Morris (National Sheep Association) on “Tying policy into sustainable development of animal welfare”; and Martin Walsh (UK departmental delegate to the EU) on “How does the new EU policy directive effect the ASPA?”
The cost of attendance will be £65 for AWSELVA members and £75 for non-members.
