Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) held a cricket tournament in India to highlight the fight against rabies.

Thirteen teams took part in the Anti-Rabies Cricket Cup in Tamil Nadu, including a joint WVS-India Project for Animals and Nature (IPAN) team comprising vets, volunteers, and dog catchers.

WVS organises the event every December to raise awareness of rabies and its work with projects ITC India, Mission Rabies and IPAN.

The games were held over two days, with great support from the local community.

The WVS-IPAN players came third, winning a bronze trophy.

A WVS spokesman thanked everyone who took part.

“Big thanks go to all those ITC participants whose donations towards the ‘boys annual day’ have made this event possible,” the spokesman said.
