A veterinary medicine student was awarded a £1,000 educational grant at the Newark and Nottinghamshire County Show.

Lynsey Hitt, from Kegworth, Leicestershire, is studying veterinary medicine in Nottingham.

The educational grant, awarded by the Board of the Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society, will be used by Lynsey to purchase equipment or books to further her studies.

The presentation of the award was made by the show’s president, John Peace.

Along with other students seeking one of the society’s annual grants, Lynsey submitted a written application and underwent an interview before members of the Board prior to being successful. As part of the award’s criteria, she is committed to working within the rural sector in the county once she has graduated.
