Vet151 event follows school’s successful 150th anniversary event last year, and involves a lecture, CPD sessions, ceilidh dancing and dinner.
The University of Glasgow’s School of Veterinary Medicine is hosting a two-day CPD and alumni reunion event.
The event – called Vet151 – follows the school’s successful 150th anniversary event last year, which saw alumni, vets, friends of the school and VIPs celebrate the institute’s achievements.
Kicking off on the evening of November 1 (2013), Vet151 begins with the school’s bi-annual Weipers Lecture. This is followed on Saturday November 2 with three streamed CPD lecture programmes of food animal, equine and small animal topics. There will also be a commercial exhibition where delegates will convene for breaks. The event closes on Saturday with a drinks reception, an alumni dinner and ceilidh dance.
Subjects under discussion in the lecture programmes include:
- emergency imaging in small animal practice,
- techniques for equine ophthalmology,
- nutrient physiology in the transition cow, and
- challenging cases in internal medicine and cardiology.
Speakers include Anne French, Patrick Pollock, Lorenzo Viora and Tim Geraghty.
Delegates can attend any part of the event and will only pay for those lectures they take part in. Attendance to the Weipers Lecture is free, while the dinner costs £65. Both the equine and food animal streams (which are half-day sessions) cost £75 to attend, while the full day small animal session costs £150.
