To celebrate the launch of KONG Safestix (the flexible, floating and safe alternative to the stick) the KONG Company thought it would be a great idea to tie the launch in with a fundraising event.
So, a team of six intrepid KONG employees volunteered to jump out of a plane for a tandem skydive with the Red Devils Freefall Parachute Display Team… and only one of them had ever skydived before!
KONG got together with Paul Blair – the designer of the original Safestix and a Red Devils team member – and organised the event to raise money for Medical Detection Dogs.
Tension mounted during the days leading up to the jump but, in the early hours of May 29, 2012, the brave Kongateers all arrived at KONG Company’s UK head office and headed for Netheravon Airfield in Wiltshire (home of the Army Parachute Association).
Following full training they set off with their allotted Red Devil tandem instructor and boarded the plane.
…and the outcome? They all jumped, they all landed safely, they all said they would do it again – and, most importantly, the team raised £1,500 (and still counting) for this very worthy charity!!
