The British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association (BVOA) is hosting a CPD event for novice orthopods.

The BVOA wants to help graduates and beginner orthopods get to grips with ESFThe event – to be held at the Royal York Hotel in York on November 15, 2012 – will cover many topics on external skeletal fixation (ESF), with the focus on “getting started“.

Topics include:

  • types of ESF
  • bone healing with ESF
  • biomechanics of ESF
  • postoperative care of ESF constructs, and
  • principles of ESF application.

The practical course is run by the BVOA committee, members of which include chairman Peter Attenburrow, vice chairman Richard Huddart and past chairman Chris May.

Cost is £150 for the entire day, which also includes refreshments and a light lunch.

The BVOA is encouraging early registration as places are limited, and is particularly keen to encourage new and existing members to learn in a “relaxed, informal and friendly environment”.

To register or for more information, visit the BVOA’s website.
