Wimbledon-based Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital expands neurology team and service with the appointment of specialist Sergio Rodenas, who qualified in Spain in 1996.

The Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital in Wimbledon has widened its team after appointing a European specialist in veterinary neurology.

Dr Rodenas joins Stone Lion from the St Hyacinthe veterinary school in Montreal, Canada.Sergio Rodenas, who qualified at the University of Extremadura in Spain in 1996, joins the hospital from the St Hyacinthe veterinary school in Montreal, Canada, where he was a clinical instructor in neurology and neurosurgery.

The move signals a return to the UK for Dr Rodenas, who previously worked at the Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists in Hampshire.

The newly created role will see Dr Rodenas work alongside fellow veterinary neurologist Clare Rusbridge, enabling the hospital – part of the Goddard Veterinary Group – to offer a full neurology referral service five days a week.

Dr Rusbridge said: “Neurology is our busiest referral practice, drawing patients from across the south-east of England and sometimes further afield. We see it as a growth area and wanted to offer our clients a five day a week service to make it easier for them to come to us. Sergio’s experience, especially in spinal surgery, will be a huge asset to us and will enable us to meet this goal. We’re delighted to welcome him.”
