Students and staff at Liverpool vet school will be in the spotlight next month, as part of a new Channel 5 TV series.

Channel 5 series focuses on Liverpool vet school.“Rolf’s Animal Clinic” will see the return of Rolf Harris to our TV screens, as the animal loving antipodean follows vets, nurses and students at the Leahurst campus.

The show will shine a light into the work that goes on at the school’s Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital, Farm Animal Practice and Small Animal Teaching Hospital, all of which are on-call 24/7 and see an estimated 28,000 patients every year.

Head of school Susan Dawson said Liverpool was delighted to throw open its doors to Channel 5 and demonstrate both its clinical work and student training.  

Rolf HarrisChannel 5 commissioning editor Ian Dunkley said: “The series gets to the emotional heart of what it is to be a vet – from the drama of life-saving equine surgery, to how best to deal with an overweight pet.”

He added: “Having Rolf as the presenter is a fantastic addition to the series.”

Mr Harris said: “The welfare of animals is something that has always been close to my heart and it’s wonderful to be presenting this series which covers the fascinating and skilled work of the vets dealing with such an amazing range of animals.”

Rolf’s Animal Clinic is yet to receive an official airdate, but Channel 5 and Liverpool have confirmed the series will be broadcast in October 2012.
