New regulations that come into force on April 6 will see the right to request flexible working extended toparents of children under the age of 17.
This right is currently available toparents with children aged six or under, and registered carers. An extra4.5 million parents are expected to benefit from the move.
The Flexible Working (Eligibility, Complaints and Remedies) (Amendment)Regulations 2009 were laid before Parliament on March 12 and comes intoforce on April 6.
The right to request flexibleworking for carers of disabled children under 18 is unchanged.
