Michael McIntyre, the new judge on Britain’s Got Talent and the youngest ever host of the Royal Variety Performance, will be delivering the chuckles at BSAVA Congress this year.
BSAVA has signed up the successful stand-up, who was a pre-big-time host of the Petplan Veterinary Awards in 2008, for Saturday’s Party Night.
He will join Fred MacAulay and Paul Zerdin for the comedy section of Party Night’s entertainment, which will be followed with music by The Counterfeit Stones and The Feeling.
After several years as a jobbing stand-up, earning a fan base and picking up a Perrier nomination, Michael’s big break came at the Royal Variety Performance in 2006. His debut DVD, Live and Laughing, was the fastest selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second, Hello Wembley, which sold more than 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one.
He now hosts his own BAFTA-nominated BBC One series, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 following his record-breaking, sell-out 54- date arena tour.
ITV1 viewers will see him take the hot seat soon as a judge on the hit talent search Britain’s Got Talent.
BSAVA Congress is fast earning a reputation for its Party Night social – having brought in big names such as Jools Holland, Bill Bailey, and last year’s number one band at the time, Scouting for Girls.
