BSAVA Congress 2013 has officially opened its doors to a number of delegates and exhibitors that has passed all expectations, according to organisers.
Official delegate figures as of Wednesday night (April 3, 2013) stood at 5,753 and organisers claim numbers have surpassed those of the record-breaking congress of 2011, with a total of around 7,000 delegates and exhibitors expected in total.
Speaking to Vetsonline following the association’s press conference, outgoing president Mark Johnston said: “The congress has done very well this year, in this economic climate. We have very high delegate numbers. Hopefully by the end of congress we’ll give you the numbers, but it’s done very well.”
Speaking to Vetsonline reporter Rebecca Hubbard, Mr Johnston spoke of the most memorable moments from his year at the helm of the association, before airing his opinions of the EFRACom enquiry.
He said: “We have been disappointed by what has come back from the Home Office and DEFRA, but we were very pleased with what the Efracom committee recommended – they took on board most of our recommendations, but we are disappointed that the Government haven’t really taken their recommendations and hope that they will listen again.”
