Assistance dog charity Hounds for Heroes has received a massive donation of £50,000 from Boehringer Ingelheim, following a number of fundraising initiatives by the company.
The money was raised in an on-pack promotion which saw Boehringer, the makers of veterinary support supplement Seraquin, pledge money to the charity for every pack sold
In addition to the £20,000 raised through this initiative, a further £30,000 was raised during the company’s “Chronic Care Lectures” – a series of educational seminars running throughout February and March 2014.
Rob Lucy, Seraquin brand manager at Boehringer Ingelheim, presented Hounds for Heroes founder and vice-chairman Allen Parton with a cheque for the full £50,126 during this year’s Crufts.
Mr Lucy said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support from both vets and pet owners in our bid to raise funds for this inspirational charity. Our donation will help make a real difference to the lives of injured or disabled people from the UK armed forces and civilian emergency services and we are delighted to continue the partnership between Boehringer and Hounds for Heroes in 2014.”
Of the donation, Mr Parton said: “It costs us £20,000 to buy, train and support an assistance dog throughout its life, so a donation of this kind will go a long way to enhance the quality of life of our clients.”
