A Hertfordshire veterinary practice has celebrated the 50th anniversary of its surgery on Bushey High Street.
To celebrate, Blythwood Vets held a reception at Bushey Museum on September 17, inviting industry peers, staff and clients from over many years.
Over the course of 50 years the surgery has treated more than 100,000 animals ranging from cats and dogs to more exotic patients such as owls and even a crocodile.
The surgery was opened in 1964 by Paul Vos, who ran the clinic for more than 30 years.
In 1996, Mr Vos retired and passed the reins to Bradley Viner, who had set up Blythwood Vets in Hatch End some years before.
Dr Viner said: ‘We were so fortunate to be able to take over this lovely surgery from Paul. “We are delighted to say the practice started by Paul so many years ago has continued to thrive.”
Now, 50 years after first opening, the surgery is still an independent, family-owned practice.
Partner Barry Cameron said: “Being part of the local community means a lot to us and we look forward to providing excellent care for the pets of Bushey for the next 50 years and beyond.”
As well as surgeries in Hatch End, Bushey, Northwood and Stanmore the practice also has a sister clinic, the Well Animal Clinic, in West Hampstead.
