Canine charity Pet Blood Bank UK (PBBUK) has created an award to recognise its hard-working volunteers, in honour of a member of staff who died last year.
Canine charity Pet Blood Bank UK (PBBUK) has created an award to honour a member of staff who died last year.
The Heart of Pet Blood Bank (PBB) award has been created in memory of early PBBUK staff member Debra Sykes, who “lived and breathed PBBUK” and sadly passed away from cancer last year.
In honour of its recent 4,000th donor milestone, the charity decided to launch the award with inaugural categories for “fundraising and volunteering”.
One award celebrates the work of a PBBUK volunteer and another going to an individual or team of people who have raised more than £500 for the charity.
A spokesman said: “Debra [Sykes] lived and breathed PBB, and was instrumental in setting up the volunteering programme.
“The Heart of PBB award will recognise and celebrate the achievements of all those who help the charity continue to collect and supply life-saving blood.”
Log on to the charity’s website to find out more about the award and nominate a fundraiser or volunteer.
