Alstoe Ltd has been acquired by the French company Sogeval, a leading supplier of companion and livestock animal products.
Established in 1994, Alstoe has become known as one of the most successful UK animal health product suppliers, through both domestic and export sales. The key Alstoe brands – Gleptosil and Vetergesic – are internationally known.
For the last five years Alstoe has been working with Sogeval (part of the Sofiproteol Group, an agri-food company, with 2012 sales of €7 billion) to develop flavoured tablet pharmaceutical brands from Sogeval while the two companies have collaborated to make Vetergesic successful in France.
Prior to the sale, Alstoe was privately owned by the two original partners John Nellis and lan Ryder.
The move is seen by all parties as ensuring continued success. The business will continue to trade from the current premises for the foreseeable future and will maintain its high standard of customer service and product supply.
Talking of the company sale, Mr Nellis said: “lt will be business as usual. We look forward to continued sales growth for our existing brands and the introduction of exciting new products in the future.”
Dr Ryder added: “Our companies have worked very well together in the past. The acquisition will bring fresh impetus to the business and ensure continued growth.”
The current Alstoe team remain in place to assist with enquiries.
