Surgical Nursing Care for Spinal Patients
About this course
In neurosurgery, it is very important that veterinary surgeons and nurses work closely together to achieve the optimum outcome for our patients. Neurological patients can be difficult to manage, and good nursing care reduces the many complications that may occur within the perioperative period, which will improve the quality of life of the patient. We will familiarise ourselves with the neurological examination, which is vital for perioperative care, as it is important to understand the possible complications that could arise and how these complications can manifest in our patients. We will use case studies to discuss the different diseases that affect the spine and require surgical treatment, along with specific surgical considerations for our neurosurgery patients.
