Surgery in an Emergency!!
Emergency patients may present at any time in a variety of practices, from first opinion practice to emergency clinics. Advanced knowledge of how to deal with these patients is essential in achieving a positive outcome. The course will cover a variety of critical surgical presentations, from diaphragmatic ruptures to GDVs.
Specific areas to be covered:
• Understand the placement and maintenance of tracheostomy tubes, chest drains and central catheters
• Understand how to effectively deal with a variety of critical surgical presentations including caesareans, diaphragmatic ruptures and GDVs
• Understand techniques which can be used for anaesthesia of these patients, including induction agents, respiratory techniques and anaesthesia monitoring.
