Return to Work – Clinical Refresher
Returning to work after a period of absence can be very difficult. The veterinary profession moves at a very fast rate, and six months off can leave you behind. A longer period can be even more daunting. This day will cover getting back into work, if your RCVS registration has lapsed, how you may reinstate it and changes to how RVNs are expected to work and professional responsibility. We will mainly be looking at what things have changed clinically in the last five years, both medically and surgically, for example the use of newer induction agents such as alfaxan, and current diabetes protocols. We will also cover new regimes for analgesia and use of equipment that is now commonplace in practice, including infusion pumps, capnographs and ECG machines.
Specific areas to be covered.
• RCVS registration and changes to professional responsibility
• Update in medicine – including diabetes protocols and analgesia
• Update in surgery – including recent anaesthetic protocols and monitoring equipment
• Update in practice equipment – including capnographs, infusion pumps and ECG machines
