Practical Abdominal Ultrasound
The aim of this practical day course is to share a systematic approach to performing a full and successful abdominal ultrasound. We will forget, or almost completely forget! physics but we will concentrate on sharing some of the tips that I wished somebody had shared with me at the very beginning of my career. The course will be more helpful to those that are just starting to use ultrasound or have used ultrasound at an entry level and want to increase their confidence.
One cannot transmit the knowledge accumulated over many years of performing ultrasounds in a single day but can share how to fully scan an abdomen in a way that works. This should help the delegates from the very next day. We will maximise the number of practical aspects of the course and will cover all abdominal organs.
We would be grateful if participants with an amenable dog would be willing to bring them along to be scanned. The ideal candidate would be medium sized, not deep chested and have a relaxed demeanour, and must belong to the course participant. The candidates who register a volunteer dog will receive a copy of a BSAVA manual of their choice by way of thanks.
