Nursing the Common Small Furry
Royal Veterinary College, Boltons Park Farm, Hawkshead Road,
In recent years, small furry patients such as rodents and other exotic mammals are presenting to veterinary clinics for more challenging procedures and care. Nursing these patients attentively and effectively contributes massively to successful treatment and, in particular, peri- and post-operative survival.
Both qualified and student veterinary nurses looking to expand their knowledge of the nursing requirements of the more common small furries are welcome to attend. You will look at:
- Rodent husbandry, handling and hospitalisation
- Common clinical conditions
- Clinical techniques (feeding, venous access, fluid therapy, pharmacology)
- Safe and successful anaesthesia techniques, tips and tricks
