Willows Day CPD Meeting
Nurse CPD day: An update on essential skills and knowledge for nurse
Wednesday 18 May 2016
Willows Referral Service, Highlands Road,
Shirley, Solihull, West Midlands B90 4NH
Nurses and their wide ranging skills are integral and essential for every veterinary practice to function effectively. These skills vary from client communication and consulting to sampling patients, nursing patients with medical conditions, radiography and anaesthesia. It is therefore vital that nurses have an up-to-date knowledge in all of these areas.
This Willows CPD event aims to cover and update delegates on a wide range of essential and practical topics for nurses. Topics will include important infectious diseases, including the multidrug resistant bacteria MRSA and MRSP that have huge implications for the veterinary profession. It will also cover effective skin sampling techniques for dermatology patients so that the majority of samples can be taken and analysed in-house with confidence, without the need for an external laboratory. The day will also cover nursing of the cardiac patient, nursing of the rabbit with gastrointestinal stasis, anaesthesia considerations for the seizure patient, nursing of patients with endocrine disease and tips on effective practical radiography.
The day will be run by Willows Specialists and specialised nurses, and talks will include an interactive voting system for audience participation. By the end of day, delegates will have an up-to-date overview of important topics that can be taken back and applied in their practice.
