Anaesthesia for complicated conditions: PART 2
General anaesthesia can be challenging at the best of times but can increase the veterinary surgeon’s blood pressure even more when there are other medical issues! This talk will follow on from Part 1 and address the assessment and management of anaesthesia for some of the more complex conditions that the practitioner may encounter. Often it is the approach before anaesthesia that will improve the outcome for a particular patient. Conditions included will be caesarean section, post trauma, liver disease and renal disease among others. A case based approach will be used to illustrate the approach and possible complications that may be encountered. The techniques and drugs used will be tailored to those readily available in practice, making it applicable to first opinion practitioner.
